You may be a candidate.
Based on your BMI, you may qualify for GLP-1 weight loss programs like GLP-1 or GLP-1/GIP.
Why BMI Isn't the Whole Story
While BMI is a useful screening tool, it has limitations. It doesn't distinguish between fat mass and muscle mass.
Muscle Density: Highly muscular individuals may have a high BMI but low body fat percentage, incorrectly categorizing them as "overweight."
Fat Distribution: BMI doesn't account for where fat is stored. Visceral fat is more metabolically active and poses higher health risks.
This is why our licensed providers look at your complete health profile—not just a number on a scale.
What Is GLP-1?
GLP-1 receptor agonists were originally approved for type 2 diabetes management. In 2021, a higher-dose formulation was approved specifically for chronic weight management in adults with obesity or overweight with at least one weight-related condition.
It works by mimicking the GLP-1 hormone your body naturally produces after eating. This signals your brain to reduce appetite, slows the rate at which your stomach empties, and improves how your body uses insulin. The result: you feel full sooner, stay full longer, and consume fewer calories without the constant hunger that makes most diets fail.
In clinical trials, patients on GLP-1 lost an average of 14.9% of body weight over 68 weeks, compared to 2.4% in the placebo group.
How Does GLP-1 Work in the Body?
GLP-1 targets three key systems simultaneously to produce sustainable weight loss.
1. Appetite Suppression
GLP-1 activates GLP-1 receptors in the hypothalamus — the brain region controlling hunger. Patients often report reduced cravings within the first few weeks.
2. Slowed Gastric Emptying
By slowing how quickly food moves from your stomach, GLP-1 extends fullness after meals. Smaller portions feel more satisfying, naturally reducing caloric intake.
3. Improved Insulin Sensitivity
GLP-1 enhances insulin response to meals and suppresses glucagon. This improves metabolic function and supports fat loss rather than muscle loss.
Science-Guided
Treatment Options.
GLP-1-Based Therapies
These medications mimic natural fullness hormones to reduce appetite and support long-term weight loss when appropriate.

GLP-1/GIP Combination Therapies
Dual-action medications that may support additional metabolic effects, prescribed only when clinically indicated.

What Weight Loss Results Can You Expect?
Weight loss with GLP-1 is gradual, consistent, and clinically significant — unlike crash diets that produce rapid regain.
| Timeframe | Average Weight Loss |
|---|---|
| 4 weeks | 2–4 lbs (early appetite reduction) |
| 12 weeks | 5–8% of starting body weight |
| 6 months | 10–12% of starting body weight |
| 12+ months | 14–17% of starting body weight |
